Does anyone on here run this stuff? We are 13yrs youth team and run a bit of it. We started off in the begining of the year in scrimmages doing real well and moveing the ball consistantly but, as the season has gone on have had trouble. (we have low numbers and our best athelete was suspended and no longer with us) Seems if teams blitz us we have real trouble. The trap play has been a good gainer for us however. I have only seen the Running game DVD. Any experience with it?

This year, my offense is a shot gun wing offense. You'd be surprised at how the running game opens up the passing game. We are predominantly a passing right now... but we're evolving into more of a running team. Last week we ran 26 times, but passed 25. Last year we would have had 33 passes and maybe 10 runs. The running game hasn't broken open yet, but it will.

Our running game started off great but I think our lack of passing attack has hurt us, especially INTs and lack of pass protection. We average about 5.1 yrds per carry (before this last game) but shoot ourselves in the foot with turnovers. We only have about 18 kids so replacing certain players is not really an option.

Coach, That's understandable... we're having trouble run blocking because it's the 1st time they run block in years. We've been a passing team for the last 8 years and now we're trying to establish the run. It's taking a while, but it's coming along. The running game has been improving little by little each week, so we'll see. Turnovers and penalites have been making the stats look a little lopsided as well, but we're improving in that area as well. In your case, you can open things up if you try play action on 1st down or in short yardage situations. It seems like you've established yourselves as a good running team...use that to your advantage and pass early. Good luck, Metz
