Can someone help me with an effective way to determine the length of a pass route as it correlates to our QBs drop (3, 5, 7 step, sprint out)? Also, what are some ways to communicate that to the QB when calling a play? We use a numbered passing tree to communicate which receivers run which routes: odd numbers are routes to the sideline, even numbers are routes to the field and the smaller the number, the shorter the route. We'd appreciate any help. TomR

I used to use the passing tree but I now use passing concepts. For example in the 3 step passing game I have 3 passing combos. They are usually mirrored. Slant: #1Slant, #2Arrow Hitch: #1Hitch, #2Seam Fade: #1Fade, #2Speed Out
This year I am probably going to change the route for #2 on Slant from an Arrow to a Bubble.
