Eddie... It's no bother at all...if it was, I wouldn't have started the web site. LOL ... anyway, as far as double teaming, you can do it, but I wanted to keep the blocking rules as similar to down as possible, so that I don't confuse the players. At Lasalle, we called the plays, 52 G and 52 Double. So, we didn't want to tell the TE and PST, on this play you do this and on that play you do that. Gap - down - backer was the rule for both players on both plays...so, it made teaching easier. Besides, for the sweep, if you wanted to double team somebody, you want to double team the DE. Metz

Metz reason i say that is in youth football LBs have hard time especially at that age hitting gaps unless blitz so we will double as much as possible ya know even on down but I see your point

well we ran it differently eddie! we didnt pull as much because it visually messes with the defense. we also had an option to pull the taackle against 5-3 which you face in that age group often right?
the base way was c and backside reach hard playside PSG gap on down Pst Gap on TE gap On wb block ss/olb
when we pull psg stays the same pst pull and seals the edge te gap down wb 1st man inside unless wide end and the you go to OLB

Metz, how long have you been running down sweep? I've been running it since sometime '04 or '05. It's been good for us at Lasalle. But at Country Day, we're going to be running a hybrid type offense. We'll see how it comes out. If things go well, those plays will appear on the video section of the site.

We ran a similar play on the GL, but off buck action.

Coaches,
I've run buck, power, jet, rocket- my favorite is rocket - with full motion, short motion, no motion versions the possibilities are endless...
I'm intrigued with Belly/Down Sweeps as opposed to B/D Option- sounds & looks great.

Whitemike, if you have an active FB, I think you need to run these plays. They are a great complement to your offense.

I must concur. But at the same time...I'm not anti-option. I'm very pro-option, but my former head coach didn't like running it, so, we had to find alternatives to it. This was the perfect fit. Happy 4th Metz

Metz, with those kids, option should have been part of your package, at least speed option. Defensively they need to see it or some form of option. This may be a stupid question, but are you guys running the wing?
How do I add that rectangle for a quote?

For the rectangle, you must first hit "reply." Not the quick reply. Highlight the text you want to put the rectangle around, right click and select copy. Then, on that tool bar that that has the buttons for bold print, italics and all that neat stuff, you're going to find an blue arrow that points to the right. 2nd button from the right on the bottom row of buttons. Click that and two things will pop up on the message screen in brackets. Paste the quote you have copied in between the brackets. And it should appear.
At MCDS, we'll be running a hybrid wing. Not an Elrod hybrid but a hybrid offense nonetheless. We'll eventually be more wing-t than anything else soon enough, but not this year.
