When running down sweep from 100 or 900 what are the steps for the DB (BALL CARRIER). My backs coach seems to think a counter step is needed. I think it should be run more like buck where the DB times his path thru the heels of the FB and reads the guards block. Speed is not the issue here but timing is. Any advice would be appreciated.

Coach, I don't have my backs counter step. I told him to use controlled speed. It never game me any issues. However, a friend of mine was installing it and couldn't time it up. They figured, they would just run it out of Red/Blue without any motion. One coaching tip that I do use is, I tell my RB's to arc their path. And they should be more on a downhill path towards the hole when he meshes with the QB. It sort of looks like he is arc-ing out for option, but he ends up coming back to sprint through the 1/9 hole. Hope this helps. Good luck, Metz
