This will be my first year ever running the Wing-T. I ran a few plays in 2007 from the Wing-T formation but I wasnt dedicated to the real and full wing-t. I will be running a basic Belly, Buck, Lead, Sprint, and Jet series. Im in a draft league so I dont know my team as of yet. Any advice you have on the players I should be looking to draft, or just any basic Wing-T advice or help. Oh by the way the kids I will have will be 9-11 years old.

Coach, I'm not sure what 9-11 year olds can handle, but I'll tell you this: Recruit the best athletes. Athletes make coaching easier, but coaching helps athletes win. If they are athletes, you'll find ways to give them the ball. Traditional Wing-T out of double tights was the way the wing-t originated, but know this, when you put all 11 in the box, they put all 11 in the box. If you put 10 in there (1 WR), then they are forced to cover him -- at a cost! Do they single cover or do they put a safety over the top. If they single cover, you gotta have a route that be beat one on one ... but if they double cover (with a safety) then they have 9 to your 10. You have an advantage. Stay true to each series, realize that sometimes a play from a different series are great compliments and not necessarily from the same series. And use play action in early downs. You're not fooling anyone by calling waggle on 3rd and long. Good luck. Metz
