Hi Coach! First time user!
We are using almost all of your offense here in Yorba Linda, Ca. We are a Junior Peewee Pop Warner team named the Rhinos.
Can you tell me why you use a pulling tackle rather than a guard from the weak side, on the Half Back counter? Is there not enough room?

Coach, Since Defenses like to key on guards vs a wing-t team, having the tackle pull is one key breaker. Another reason is that because the half back is taking a jab step away from the POA, the guard would have to sustain that block for a period longer than probable. So, by having the BST pull, his trap block does not have to be sustained as long. At least, that's the way I understood it. Metz

Great explanation Coach!
On other thing. With your playbook are the following splits too large for by 9-11 Pop Warner kids? About 75% are new this year.
Center-Guards 6" Guards-Tackles 10" Tackle-tight end-30" TE-Wing 1yd out, 1yd back The split is 10 yd split
Against a 6 line yesterday we had a lot of leakage and with out all of the plays in they had us on the run. Normally I would have thrown to the flats or quick look ins but we are not there yet.
I appreciate all the "Chatter" on your web site.
Regards,
Rhinos Coach Larry Southern California

Coach, I'll tell you right now ... I have never coached 9-11 year olds. So, kudos to you for working with them. If I did, I'd probably start with 1 foot splits and work my way down to find out which split worked best.

Having coached 8-11 yr olds for nine yrs. I've found beginning with 1 foot splits works extremely well. Another thing that will help is designating a power side of your line. I flip the line depending on what the play call is.. BK
