The Bengals are stupid.
They deserved to lose that game. Last week, they rested many of their starters for the playoffs. Great payoff now, isn't it.
I've been telling my players and anyone else who would listen that resting their players is a loser mentality.
Once you make it okay to lose, then it will be okay to lose. Their losing attitude caused that loss. It takes no effort to lose, but it takes everything you got to win. There isn't an on/off switch to winning. Why would you give up a game when you're coming up on your most critical part of the season. Many teams would have loved to be in the Bengals shoes -- hosting an NFL Playoff game. Heck, I would have loved it if my Dolphins hosted like we did last year.
So, here you are hosting a game and you lost! And why??? Because you told your team, "Hey, Lads, games aren't that important."
I'm sure, Coach, slapped the kicker on the butt and said, "That's okay, buddy, we didn't need your six points anyway, we were down by 10."
If you want to say the NFL is a business, then what business practice is there that makes it okay to put out mediocre product? Coke is great because they are consistent in their formula, you don't drink a coke from one week to the next and find a different flavor? Why do you think it's okay to say it's not okay to do your best this week, but next week it's okay.
You performed a disservice to yourselves, but most importantly to your fans. 80,000 people went home disappointed (2 weeks in a row mind you), because you didn't give your best. In this tough economy, the fans deserved better than that. They pay your salaries after you violate their wallets with a $4.50 coke and $35 six packs.
I want to go to a game to enjoy some football, and to associate myself with a winner and to escape and think, "What a beautiful job, where you are getting paid to PLAY." Instead, you waste probably what's a day's wages for some people and say, "WE ARE COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE ... When it's convenient!"
Shame on you Cincy for promoting mediocrity! Shame on you for robbing your fans.
As a Dolphin fan, I hate the Jets, but Kudos to NY for fighting week in and week out to be where I wanted to be. You're a fighter and that will get your places. Cincy's a loser and they can watch you from the comforts of the fireplace warmed living room and their 65 inch HD and wonder if money can buy them a playoff spot next year.
Sorry for the rant but I hate bad football and loser mentalities!
